Gated Community Logistics: MyGate’s Express Entry for Delivery Executives.

Long queues, delays, and manual checks—delivery executives face these hurdles at gated community entrances every day. MyGate’s Express Entry changed this process, making it seamless, secure, and incredibly efficient for all stakeholders.

With the increase in e-commerce, grocery, and food deliveries, gated communities have become a bottleneck in the last-mile delivery process.

The product team at MyGate recognized the need to address this growing challenge and introduced Express Entry, a service designed to enhance operational efficiency and security by streamlining entry for delivery executives.

The product manager and the team are featured as one of Upraised's top 50 Game Changers in 2024.

The Problem: Congestion and Inefficiency at Community Gates

The rise in delivery volumes has brought logistical challenges to gated communities:

  • Congested Entrances: Multiple delivery executives queue up at gates, waiting for manual checks to gain access.
  • Time-Consuming Verification: Guards manually record details of delivery personnel and verify the flat number, leading to inefficiencies.
  • Last-Mile Delays: These bottlenecks significantly impact the speed and reliability of deliveries, frustrating both delivery partners and residents.

The product team at MyGate needed a solution that could reduce congestion, enhance security, and improve the overall delivery experience for all stakeholders.

The Solution: Express Entry

The product team at MyGate leveraged API-based integration with partner companies like Zomato, Blinkit, and Swiggy to simplify and accelerate the entry process for delivery executives.

Key Features of Express Entry

Early Approval Notification

  • Partner companies share delivery executive details with MyGate in real-time as soon as a delivery is initiated.
  • Residents receive approval requests even before the delivery executive arrives, ensuring pre-verified entry.

Secure Passcode System

  • Once a resident approves the delivery, a unique 6-digit passcode is generated and sent to the partner company.
  • The delivery executive shares this passcode with the gate guard for instant entry, eliminating manual data collection.

Seamless Experience

  • Entry details are auto-filled and verified within the MyGate system, reducing the need for manual intervention.
  • Bottlenecks at the gate are minimized, enabling faster and smoother access.

Impact: Efficiency, Security, and Convenience

The product team noticed that Express Entry has delivered significant benefits across key metrics:

  • Improved Operational Efficiency: Time spent at the gate by delivery executives has been reduced by up to 95%, allowing them to handle more orders in the same timeframe.
  • Enhanced Security: Residents benefit from pre-authenticated delivery executive details, adding an extra layer of security to the entry process.
  • Greater Convenience for Residents and Guards: Residents experience a hassle-free approval process, while gate guards enjoy a reduced workload and streamlined operations.

The Team Behind Express Entry

Akshobhya Abhigyan: Associate Director- Design, MyGate

Akshobhya, Associate Director at MyGate. Upraised's Game Changers.

Akshobhya observed that approving the entry of delivery partners is inconvenient & time-consuming, especially for high-frequency orders through quick commerce. He then led API integration with companies like Swiggy, and Zomato sending users a notification to approve entry once the delivery partner is on their way. They generate an OTP for the partner to share at the gate, ensuring safety along with convenience.
